Sorting Presets allow you to customise the folder structure and file naming that Music Rescue applies when copying media from your iPod. Music Rescue includes presets that match iTunes' default library structure, but you can define your own if you have a specific structure in mind.
To edit Sorting Presets, you use the Sorting Presets window. This can be access by choosing "Edit Sorting Presets..." from the "Edit" menu, or by choosing "Edit..." from the Sorting Preset pop-up menu when configuring a media type's copy settings.

The Sorting Presets window has four main areas. They are:
Sorting Preset List This list shows the sorting presets. To add or remove a sorting preset, click the '+' or '–' buttons at the bottom of the list. To rename a preset, click the preset's name in this list. |

Folder Structure and File Name fields This area shows the folder structure and naming criteria that will be applied to media items copied under the selected Sorting Preset. To edit a folder or the file name, type text into the fields or drag tags from the area below. Text typed into the fields will remain static for each track, while tags will be replaced with the appropriate data for the item being copied. |
Tags This area contains a selection of metadata tags to place into the folder structure and file naming fields. When applying the preset, these tags will be replaced by the appropriate value. For example, dragging an "Artist" tag into a folder will create a folder named with the artist of the track being copied. |
