Library Comparison

If iTunes Library Scanning is switched on in the Startup pane of Preferences, Music Rescue will compare the tracks on your iPod to the tracks in your iTunes Library. This information can then be used in several ways.

At-a-glance information

Music Rescue will place coloured dots in the iTunes Status (marked with a music note icon) column in the track lists in the main window. A green dot means that the track was found in your iTunes Library, orange means that the track wasn't found but similar tracks were, and no dot means no identical or similar tracks were found.

To review the similar tracks, select the track in the track list and choose "Get Info..." from the File menu, then click the "iTunes" tab.

You must respond to this warning - leaving this window open will cause Music Rescue's attempts to add your music back to your iTunes Library fail.

Rules and RuleSets

You can also use this information to quickly queue or unqueue items on your iPod based on whether they are in your iTunes Library. For example, the Quick Rule below will set your copy queue to only the track Music Rescue can't find in your iTunes Library.
