Lead Design and CodingDaniel Kennett "I know, why don't I just...?" is the question that rules my life. This whole company started when my Mac broke years ago, and I couldn't be bothered to re-rip all my music again. "I know, why don't I just write a program to pull the music back off the iPod?", I thought. Years later, here we are. Now, sometimes this can lead to some interesting decisions. For example, our web hosting company had been going downhill for ages, and when I decided it was time to switch, I had this conversation with another employee over IM: Daniel: You know how our web host sucks at the moment? Anyway, the plan went ahead and now this website is coming to you from an XServe in London somewhere. That question is also why I know that you can drive from my house to the south of France in one day, why my house has its own server, why I put a Mac Mini in my previous car, why I now own an RX-8, and so on. I grew up in the countryside in Derbyshire, and I started programming somewhere around the year 2000. I moved closer to London in 2003 to attend the University of Hertfordshire on a Computer Science course. I graduate in November 2007. Tim Kitchener I started working for with Daniel on a few bits and bobs for the company towards the end of our Computer Science degree at the University of Hertfordshire, making the progression to full-time in May 2007 when we both finished our degrees. We met through University in a lecture hall while we were waiting for a late lecturer. I was telling one of my friends about a track-day I’d been on in my car, explaining how awesomely fast I’d been going, and how there was a very real possibility that I was in fact the best driver in the world! Needless to say my friend wasn’t in the slightest bit impressed. Daniel on the other-hand, who had quite rudely been listening in, spun around in his chair to quiz me on the exact details of the track day and speeds involved just to make sure I wasn’t better than him! This first encounter pretty much sums up how we’ve interacted ever since, refusing to be outdone by one another. This competitive nature and a good sense of humour makes for a pretty good team - each pushing the other to better what they’ve done, and spot flaws in each others work. My main role at KennettNet is working on the development of the shiny new applications that we’ll be releasing in the not too distant future. |

Technical and AdminstrationJonathan Bates My role is to develop and support KennettNet's in-house business applications, including the maintenance of this web site. I've known Daniel for three years since meeting him in the first year of our Computer Science course. I joined KennettNet this year to earn some spending money and ease some pressure off Daniel as he felt it will be hard to complete his final year of university, continue to develope the the iPod application and run the business. I picked up a fair amount of experiance on my industrial placement last year working for Nationwide in their IT developement department. My hobbies and interests include current affairs, computers, Yoshikan Aikido (martial-art), spending money i don't have on impulse buys, reading books on philosphy and religion and being a student(eh the social part). In the not so distant future I intend to go traveling to either Russia and China or South America. |

Customer Support and DocumentationDavid Wilson I am the 'Support Department' for KennettNet; I deal with the e-mails related to customer support and assisting Daniel in producing help documentation. My interests amongst other things, includes photography and learning to play the piano. My photos can be found here in my photo album. I also have a personal web site. I can play piano to Grade 5 standard and will be going for my Grade 5 exam shortly. Another passion I have, is an unhealthy obsession with classic cars, which has manifested itself in acquiring my car - a Triumph Spitfire 1500. See it here! What a beauty! :o) I could not afford a Jaguar E-Type, D Type, Ferrari California Spyder, Mercedes 300 SLR, or a Chevrolet Corvette from 1957, so I had to settle for the Spitfire! |
